I recently did a webinar on Location Marketing and I talked about the power of the “Donate to Charity” option in the Facebook deals section as a part of Facebook Places.  Many B-to-B companies struggle with how to make location social networks relevant to them, and the donate to charity deal allows even B-To-B to participate in Facebook Places.

So, we’ll put our money where our mouth is.  Boot Camp Digital is now officially launching a Facebook Places and Foursquare Check-In for Charity campaign.  Each time we receive a check-in (from non-employees only) on Facebook or Foursquare we will donate $0.50 to the Charity or Non-Profit of the month (capped at $50 per month).  Just checking-in at Boot Camp Digital can help support your Favorite Charity or Non-Profit!

support janet's ride for MS

I posted this morning that we were looking for charities to support with our Check-In for Charity event at Boot Camp Digital and I asked my friends on Facebook at Twitter for suggestions.  The responses came pouring in, and I learned about new agencies that I wasn’t familiar with in the past.  We let our friends and fans decide who we donate to (provided they are an actual non-profit)!

Below is the schedule (with credit to the suggestors) of the charities that we will be supporting with our Check-In for Charity campaign over the next year+.  When we run out next year, we will do another call for suggestions.  Also, feel free to donate to any of the amazing non-profits below.

  • check in special on foursquareOCTOBER (remaining)- Janet Heil’s Ride for MS – My good friend Janet did the MS Bike Ride (I have no idea how far she is riding), but it is for a great cause – to support MS. While she already achieved her goal (YAY!!!) every extra bit helps, so we will donate the rest of October to her!  Even though the ride is over they are still accepting donations for this wonderful cause.
