Members of our All Access Pass get the first look at the latest digital marketing news updates each month. We cover what matters to marketers during a live, interactive session and answer questions. We spend hours combing industry news sites looking for the most critical updates, so you don’t have to! June 2024 has major updates from Meta, Instagram, Google, and LinkedIn.

Facebook and Meta News Updates

  • Meta Says Goodbye to Workplace: Meta had high hopes for the communication-enabled work platform, but it never took off. As of September 2025, Workplace will be phased out until May 2026, when it will be decommissioned.
  • Facebook Referral Traffic for News Sources Down 50%: This is not a shocker; with algorithm changes and news deprioritization, data shows that in 12 months, news referral traffic is down 50%.
  • Is Your Business Meta Verified?: Plans start at just $14.99 monthly to obtain a verified badge, impersonation protection, support, SEO, and an enhanced profile. For $349.99 monthly, you can get Business Max with enhanced features like calls from support agents, active case monitoring, links in Reels, employee impersonation protection, and account reviews. Getting a support agent on a line may be worth one of these plans!
  • Expanded AI Disclosure Requirements: When you write a post, you will now see an “AI label on/off” or “Made with AI” label to help you disclose whether your content was generated using AI. This has been a continuing update from Meta
  • The Future of Facebook: Meta released the Future of Facebook, detailing the top 2 focuses for the next 20 years. Drumroll…. An increased focus on young adults and AI.

Instagram News Updates

  • Instagram Gives Feedback on CTAs: “Leave a like.” “Let me know in the comments.” According to Instagram, those are good CTAs that will boost your reach. If you use emojis to engagement-bait the comments, you may reduce your reach.
  • Post Shares Are Now A Key Driver of Reach: While comments and likes matter, according to Adam Mosseri, post shares matter more. So, if you want to boost your reach, try to have content your audience will want to share!
  • Reels Longer Than 90 Seconds “Hurt Distribution”: While Instagram and TikTok keep increasing video length access, this does not mean you should use it. For optimal results, try keeping videos between 15 and 30 seconds.

Threads News Updates

LinkedIn News Updates

  • 2024 Work Trend Report: LinkedIn and Microsoft partnered for this report, which says the #1 thing employees want at work is AI.
  • Changes to The Modern CMO: LinkedIn Reports that the Marketing Jobs Outlook revealed a decline in CMO titles because they have been integrated into more diverse titles wearing multiple hats like Chief Brand and Analytics Officer, Chief Growth Officer, and Chief Marketing and Communications Officer.
  • Linkedin AI Transparency Policy: LinkedIn joins TikTok and C2PA in certifying Content Credentials. If content has been labeled as AI-generated you will see a specific icon from LinkedIn with the letters- CR.

TikTok News Updates

  • TikTok Releases the 2024 Ad Guide: If you want to take a crack at Ads on TikTok, this easy-to-read Guide will give you a step-by-step approach.
  • TikTok Announces AI Transparency & Literacy Policy: Partnering with C2PA (Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity), TikTok will now automatically label AI-generated content (AIGC). Be on the lookout for Content Credentials on TikTok content.
  • US President Signs Bill to Ban TikTok: This is not new; in fact, it is banned in India and a few states (looking at you, OK, AL, FL, ID, AR, IN, TN, GA, TX…). One change we have seen to meet some of the legislative changes is a US-only feed. If you are still asking, what does this mean for me? Should I not invest? No. We would not make changes yet—wait for more significant changes.

X News Update

  • X Announces Adult-Only Content: Yes, you read that right. According to X, “You may share consensually produced and distributed adult nudity or sexual behavior, provided it’s properly labeled and not prominently displayed.”
  • X Makes Moves to Hide Post Likes: To help keep the platform more “private,” likes will now be hidden so no one can see what you have liked. You can see who has liked your posts and the like count for all posts and replies.

Snapchat News Update

  • Snap Camera is Back By Demand: You can now add Snap Camera to your Chrome browser to take your Zoom meetings to the next level. (or at least to how fun they were in 2020).
