SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is about getting your website to the top of search engines like Google through organic (or “unpaid”) efforts. SEO is important because it tells search engines like Google what your website is about, so that when consumers are searching for a product or service online, Google will show them your site if they think it is important and relevant enough. And if 86% of website traffic comes from Internet search, it’s pretty important that you start working on your Search Engine Optimization strategy.

SEO can often seem intimidating or hard to grasp, but as long as you plan out an effective strategy, you’ll get to the top of Google in no time! In the video below, social media expert Krista Neher shares Search Engine Optimization tips that can start you on the path to the top of Google. According to Krista, successful Search Engine Optimization includes:

1. Keyword Analysis: choosing which keywords you want to be at the top of Google for
2. Telling Google what your website is about: So that Google knows what your site is responsible for
3. Showing Google that your website is important: So that in the future, Google will send the right people to your site
