Tumblr is a social network that has quietly been growing.  While you have been figuring out Facebook and Twitter, Tumblr has been experiencing tremendous growth.  Tumblr has over 33 million users who have made over 12 billion posts.

What is Tumblr?

Tumblr is a website and microblogging platform that allows users to post text, images, videos, links, quotes and audio to their tumblelog, a short-form blog. Users can follow other users, or choose to make their tumblelog private. The service emphasizes ease of use.[4] The site ranks as the 10th largest social network with 6.8 million weekly visits.[5] According to comScore, Tumblr scored 13.4 million unique visitors in the U.S. in July, 2011 — up 218% from July, 2010.   • Easy to get started
  • Primarily leverages other content
  • Can Tumble or Post videos/photos/articles
  • Easy version of a blog
  • Typically less original content vs. blogs

How Does Tumblr Work?

This is an example of a more advanced Tumblr site.  Essentially you can post things like photos, articles or links.  You can follow people you like and they can follow you.  Tumblr is extremely visual, and also tends to have younger users.

You can use Tumblr as a mini-blog to share things that you find online that you like.

  1. Hey this is kinda of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to
    manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding experience so I wanted to get advice from someone with experience. Any help would be enormously appreciated!
