YES! Simply put, hashtags on TikTok provide visibility and searchability. Learn more about hashtags here.
TikTok is a discovery engine. Plain and simple, its goal is to put content it thinks you will like in front of you. Before creators used hashtags, there was no way to really search through the content unless you knew specifically the creator or content to search.
What does this mean for businesses?
BE STRATEGIC! Strategically choosing hashtags for your content allows your target audience to find it. That also means BE RELEVANT! When using hashtags, no matter your platform, you need to focus on your relevancy to your niche and brand. Furthermore, choose hashtags that apply to you and your brand. TikTok has a convenient hashtag monitor for you to see trending hashtags and search for ones that are relevant to your brand.
Additionally, this includes how you use them. TikTok allows hashtags in the captions and comments. Remember to apply strategy and relevancy in your hashtags for optimal results.
BONUS: TikTok recently bumped out their character limit to 2200, which is huge news. No longer do you have to choose between description/caption and hashtag. Take advantage of that and get more reach. Adding 10 to 20 hashtags is a good range to start with.
