You’ve probably heard about Vine – the latest “big thing” in social networking! Vine Labs just released this new app, which allows you to take short, cool videos and share them in an easy way with your friends and family.
What do you need to know about the app?
Who can use it?
Vine is compatible with iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S, and 5, as well as the iPod touch 3rd-5th generations, and the iPad.
How Do You Set It Up?
Just go to your “App Store” and type in Vine. It should be the first one to pop up – it’s free so all you have to do is click “Install App”!
Once you’ve installed it, you can either sign in with Twitter, or with email, as you can see in this screenshot:
Once you’ve created an account for yourself, you can look up other people, follow those who interest you, research the latest trends by searching for hashtags, and more! As you can see in these example screen shots that Vine created, once you have a video, you can share it on Vine and then have the option of sharing it on Twitter and Facebook as well!
You can also check out what’s popular on this network by going to the Explore option – Vine will show you what videos the editors have picked, what’s popular now, and a general newsfeed of videos. You can also search for content you’re interested in by using a hashtag.
Implications for Businesses
Vine definitely presents plenty of incredible opportunities for businesses! Now that 88% of businesses are active on social media and people are being bombarded online with content, the cooler your content is the better. So if a consumer is thinking about purchasing your product and all they can find on social media is boring Facebook posts, they’re not very likely to buy. But if they’re watching all of your exciting videos online, they’re going to get excited about what you do! Vine is your chance to spread awareness of your brand and to appeal to consumers in a way that interests them – through visual content.
Vine just came out, so this is your chance to get ahead of your competition and create and share content that is going to get people excited about what you do. Even if you don’t have a ton of videos to upload, you can still join this network and engage with people online – comment on their videos, follow people who are interested in what you do, and be a beneficial presence online!
Now get to it!
