Simply put, Timeline is an alternative display on Facebook that allows users to be visually creative and innovative in an organized, creative format. So… use Timeline for what it was made for!
A lot of companies are creating effective and popular contests that encourage more interaction with their users. For example, Red Bull held a “Time Warp” contest using their Timeline. They added several “milestones” such as when the company was founded, and users had to go on a scavenger hunt. The contest was fun and engaging and it taught fans more about the product, allowing Red Bull to freely advertise their brand.
#2: Increase Your Edgerank Score
Edgerank is basically the math that Facebook uses to determine what will show up at the top of a user’s Newsfeed. Brand pages with the highest Edgeranks are always placed at the top of the feed. One of the easiest (and free!) ways to increase your Edgerank is by simply posting relevant content that your users look at, share, participate in, etc.
The easiest way to do this is to make sure you’re posting tons of relevant pictures, videos, and information that users “like” and comment on. Basically, you just want to engage your consumers. Avoid boring posts about your company and instead post something that people are going to enjoy, like a funny picture or a question asking for feedback about a product.
#3: Get Your Timing Right!
Always distribute your content when users are the most active. Think about when you check your own Facebook – perhaps when you first wake up or when you’re on your lunch break. Millions of people are checking it at the same time that you are. So post your latest updates at the right time, and fans are more likely to click on it. And the more interaction you get, the more visibility your brand has on Facebook!
#4: Train Your Audience
You can easily train your audience to subconsciously watch for your posts! By posting consistently and getting into a routine, people start to expect to see your post at a certain time on a certain day, and they don’t even realize they’re watching for it! Remember, people like routines and familiarity. If you own a jewelry business and you post a special coupon for bracelets every Wednesday at 4:00, you are training Jane Doe to start keeping an eye out for your posts, and she doesn’t even know it!
#5: Pin Your Point
Some of your content is going to be more popular than other content on your page. And you have the ability to keep it at the top for 7 days with Facebook’s new “pinning” option.
So if you have a successful post with tons of comments on it, make sure you or another admin “pins” it so that it shows up at the top of your page. This will only increase fan interaction, thereby increasing your Edgerank score!
